I'd like to introduce you....if you have not already met....to a shop that will enchant you....and will not soon forget.
Gothic Rose Antiques is a shop that caters to those interested in the strange and unusual. And this time of year is quite a busy time for proprietress Crystal. Located in the Gold Rush mountains of Northern California, Crystal collects the "bizarre and the beautiful" and describes herself as "a Designer of the Dark and Purveyor of Fine Macabre Goods."
I think you will enjoy this special tour I have arranged for you of this little shop of horrors.

To find out more about Gothic Rose Antiques, please visit her website here. I have given a somewhat tame smattering of the very large inventory to be found on Crystal's site. Crystal is a collector of things such as Victorian taxidermy, vintage jewelry of sometimes ghoulish design, books that are sometimes enchanting and sometimes sinister, photos of the bizarre such as sideshow freaks and mortuary portraits, skulls human and otherwise, old weaponry, costumes and masks, and other strange things best left unmentioned. So if you are intrigued, there are many more wonderful and wicked things to see.
Crystal also has a blog sure to capture your imagination. Stop in and leave a comment or two....if you dare.

Hi Alex...I am so glad you enjoyed!
I love anything with a natural history museum vibe. Those taxidermy pieces are super creep-ola
I'm loving your "spirited" posts! I am totally digging the displays at Gothic Rose and wishing I lived near by to pop in for a visit. I'd take any one of those books in your post! And next year, I SO want to fill my apothecary jar with eye balls (faux, of course. :-)
What a great shop and truly unique! Love it! Especially that old copy of Witch's Hollow!

Wowee! Definitely worth taking a day trip out of the Bay Area for! So crazy spooky cool...not that I wouldn't wear those awesome lace-up boots for everyday...Wouldn't they look great worn to toughen up a sweet, girly dress?
what a fun shop! all of the heads are so scary - especially the ones inside the cabinets and the baby heads in that jar. great "spooky" post!
WOW... GREAT shop!
Didn't she use to be in a shop in Petaluma? I remember her distinctive style. I think I have also seen her at the Alameda flea market. Off to check out her website.
Lisa & Alfie
Hi all! Thanks for having fun with this! I certainly did!
Hi Lisa! Yes, she has a space in Sienna on Mainstreet in Petaluma. At least I think it is still there. My Mom used to work there and at Chelsea's across the street, both owned by the same person. They are both great antique collectives!
Wow would I love to see this shop in person! Still, your images were almost as good as being there.
Popped in from Joni's blog and am loving it here. You are such a talent Kate...and your blog is glorious! Just bookmarked it as a favorite!
Warmly,
Sue
