My daughter...... the Pastry Chef. Just another reason in a long string as to why I will be devastated when she leaves for college!
My little Ina Garten protege used Ina's recipe for Chocolate Cake and added the German Chocolate Cake Coconut, Pecan topping from another recipe....I think she said from Rachael Ray. However she did it.....it was delicious and devoured.
Sweet weekends to you all!

This looks so yummy!! Your daughter is very talented!!
Your daughter's handy-work is unbelievable gorgeous. Now that is a cake. Eat your heart out Martha!! Does your daughter want to go into the Culinary Arts?
Yummy! Does she want to be a pastry chef when she grows up? Lucky you regardless. ;)
Have a delicious weekend yourself!
As Rachael would say . . . Yummo! Maybe one day I can convince my daughter to take up baking to satisfy my sweet tooth!
Yum! I hope you have a great weekend!
I could use another daughter...

I always requested German Chocolate cake for my birthday! That and now Carrot cake with lots of Cream Cheese frosting is another favorite.
when i was little german chocolate cake was my favorite.
my parents had to get my
( german choc ) birthday cakes from a special bakery.
mmmmm....looks so good.
if my daughter was a pastry chef, and made that cake....
i would be weeping out loud on her departure for college.

Katie,
That cake looks so good! Don't you love having an in-house chef? My best friend has a 7th grader and she is constantly whipping up goodies for everybody. So nice. I'm hoping my 9 year old will soon be doing the same. I don't trust here alone in the kitchen yet. I hope you have a great weekend. It snowed here so we are in for a couple of days. You know how snow in the South is!
Looks good to me- I love pecans! Happy weekend :)
Oh, that looks amazing. I'll have to try those recipes for a birthday cake!
Oh. My. Yum!
German chocolate coconut pecan icing....one of my all time faves!!

german chocolate is the favorite of both m & i, so we have it twice a year: on his birthday and on mine :)
my mother used to make this when we were little... such a sentimental favorite and this looks amazing... so happy to have found your blog... it is wonderful... x pam
